B. Hap Kliban (1935 1990) was allergic to cats as a child. Then, one magical day, his allergy vanished, and he got busy gathering a houseful offeline companions. Some of his kitties were named Norton, Nitty, Burton Rustle, Noko Marie the Snake, and Cow. Kliban’s fine sense of the absurd found a perfect artistic subject in the shrewd, slothful, sneaky, lovable cat.
