About the book: Hidden Figures meets Wonder Woman in this action-packed, comic-inspired adventure about a brilliant girl puzzler who discovers she’s part of a superhero team! Inspired by their favorite caped heroes, Josie, Mae, and Akiko join together for pulse-pounding battles that feature bold action, brave thinking, and an empowering belief that each one of us has the stuff it takes to be a superhero.

About the author: Hyde Park children's author Kate Hannigan writes fiction and nonfiction for young readers. Her latest novel, Cape, is the first of a three-book series with Simon & Schuster/Aladdin and blends graphic novel elements with historical fantasy. Kate's picture book biography, A Lady Has the Floor, received four starred reviews, was named a Junior Library Guild Selection, and was praised by Kirkus Reviews as “an excellent, well-researched model of its genre, which will inspire children to do whatever they desire in life, no matter what immediate restrictions exist.” In addition to the 2016 Golden Kite Award for Middle Grade Fiction, her mystery The Detective’s Assistant also received starred reviews from Booklist and BCCB, and was a California Young Reader Medal nominee, a Booklist Editor’s Choice, a Nerdy Book Club award winner, a Chicago Public Library Best Book, and a Mighty Girl Top Pick for Tweens and Teens. Kate is also the author of the Cupcake Cousins series (Disney/Hyperion) and is the founder of the Hyde Park/South Side Chicago chapter of SCBWI, which provides engaging programming for the region's aspiring children's authors and illustrators.
