Word Warrior: Richard Durham, Radio, and Freedom.

Richard Durham, one Chicago’s unsung Black literary heroes, created the

groundbreaking WMAQ radio series, Destination Freedom (1948-50).

Durham also wrote for: the United Packinghouse Workers of America; the

Chicago Defender; the Nation of Islam’s Muhammad Speaks; WTTW-TV;

Muhammad Ali’s 1975 autobiography; & Mayor Harold Washington.
